Classical Concerts at Norwich University March 20 & 26

Paine Mountain Arts Council is trying something new this year- co sponsoring classical concerts at Norwich University. Hope to see you there!

InoraBrass

The Norwich University Classical Concert Series will present InoraBrass on Friday, March 20th at 7:30 pm at White Chapel at Norwich University. The program will include brass quintet classics by Victor Ewald and Eugene Bozza, film composer Michael Kamen’s soulful Quintet, as well as a variety of American standards. InoraBrass members have performed professionally throughout the United States and internationally, including with the Nashville Symphony, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Phish, the Vermont Symphony, on Broadway, and at Carnegie Hall. Inora’s debut concert in August 2014 “wowed” Seven Days reviewer Amy Lilly with a “sonorous wall of blown sound.”

Arioso

Arioso, a chamber group featuring Linda Radtke, alto, Elizabeth Reid, violist, and Alison Cerutti, pianist, will perform a concert at 12:15 PM in White Chapel on Thursday, March 26.    Central Vermont’s chamber music ensemble will present music by Purcell, Bach, Rebecca Clarke, and Vermont composer Michael Close’s “Songs about Cheese”. “These songs are endearing, quirky, and lyrical,” remarks Radtke, “and I love the texts, which were written by the composer. I even get to yodel in the Swiss cheese movement!”

The concerts are sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts, The College of Science and Mathematics, Norwich University Development, Norwich University Student Activities, and the Paine Mountain Arts Council, and are free and open to the public.

Arioso Notturno Concert – March 29, 2014

Arioso_2013

Dear Friends,

We wanted to invite you to a very special concert next Saturday, March 29th in Northfield for Paine Mountain Arts at 7:30 at the United Church right in the middle of town.  Our chamber ensemble Arioso returns with a delightful program called “Notturno“: Elizabeth Reidviola; Alison Cerutti, piano; and Linda Radtke, alto.  Besides the lovely songs by Brahms , impromptus by Chopin, and Beethoven‘s Notturno, we have four, yes four!, new pieces by Vermont composers, two of which are world premieres, and three of which are women composers, for Women’s History Month:
The Scree Dragon by Lydia Busler-Blais (Montpelier)
Mother to Son by Patricia Julien (Burlington)
      Romance by Jacob Morton-Black (Colchester)
Kyrie by Kathy Wonson Eddy (Braintree)

Arioso is committed to presenting work by contemporary composers at each of our programs, and this year is a real feast! We have been enjoying getting through late winter by working together on these pieces for Arioso’s 5th program, and hope to see you at the concert! Admission is by suggested donation of $12. For more information call 802-485-6924.
