Arioso Notturno Concert – March 29, 2014

Arioso_2013

Dear Friends,

We wanted to invite you to a very special concert next Saturday, March 29th in Northfield for Paine Mountain Arts at 7:30 at the United Church right in the middle of town.  Our chamber ensemble Arioso returns with a delightful program called “Notturno“: Elizabeth Reidviola; Alison Cerutti, piano; and Linda Radtke, alto.  Besides the lovely songs by Brahms , impromptus by Chopin, and Beethoven‘s Notturno, we have four, yes four!, new pieces by Vermont composers, two of which are world premieres, and three of which are women composers, for Women’s History Month:
The Scree Dragon by Lydia Busler-Blais (Montpelier)
Mother to Son by Patricia Julien (Burlington)
      Romance by Jacob Morton-Black (Colchester)
Kyrie by Kathy Wonson Eddy (Braintree)

Arioso is committed to presenting work by contemporary composers at each of our programs, and this year is a real feast! We have been enjoying getting through late winter by working together on these pieces for Arioso’s 5th program, and hope to see you at the concert! Admission is by suggested donation of $12. For more information call 802-485-6924.

9th Annual Northfield Art Show April 25-27, 2014

The Paine Mountain Arts Council will sponsor the 9th Annual Northfield Art Show, to be held April 25-27, 2014 in the Community Room, Brown Public Library, 93 South Main St, Northfield.

We have decided to move the show to April rather than having it in January, as in previous years, to allow participation for those who are away during the winter. The show is open to all artists who live and/or work  in Northfield, Northfield Falls, Roxbury, Brookfield and Berlin. It is not juried.

All entries must be original (i.e., no kits, paint-by-number, copies, etc.) 2 or 3-dimensional art work in the following categories:  oils and acrylics, watercolors, pastels, pencil, pulled prints, fiber art, sculpture, ceramics and photography.  Work must not have been previously shown in the Northfield Art Show. The committee reserves the right to refuse work deemed to be inappropriate.

A Call to Artists will be announced approximatley six weeks before the show. If you are interested in exhibiting or would like to help with set-up, hanging the artwork, and/or hosting, please contact:
